Also called the "Flat Foot Ponies", "Collector's Ponies", "Classic Earth Ponies" or "Collector's Six", the first six ponies produced were all Earth Ponies (not pegasi or unicorns), and all used the same pose/mold (which is nicknamed the "Collector's Pose" by fans. The underside of their hooves says "1982", as this was when their mold (and the MLP trademark) was copyrighted, but in reality they were released in early 1983.

In late 1983 and early 1984, the second wave of Earth Ponies was released. It included Re-releases of Cotton Candy & Blossom from Wave 1, and introduced two new poses -- The sitting pose and the "Shy Pose". The sitting pose would never be used again in any "Classic" (USAmerican) release following this one.

1st Wave of Unicorns & Pegasi

Late 1983 marked the introduction of unicorns and pegasi. Throughout late 1983 and early 1984, four unicorn ponies and two pegasi ponies were released. Firefly, Medley, Glory and Twilight were all characters in the first My Little Pony TV Special! These sets had the names "Unicorn" and "Pegasus" respectively on the packaging of the ponies, whereas the previous two "Earth Pony" sets had no actual subtitle.

Year 2 Play Sets

The first ever play sets were released in Year 2, starting with the Pretty Parlor in 1983. The Show Stable, Dream Castle, and Waterfall Playset would then follow suit. The Gymkhana Play Set was sold only in Europe.

In late 1984 and early 1985, the third wave of Earth Ponies was released. In the USA these ponies had no subtitle/official set title, but in the UK they were given the subtitle Groom & Style on their packaging. Most of these ponies were characters in the My Little Pony & Friends TV Show. Applejack and Bow Tie were re-released from the previous "Year".

At the same time, we see the second run of sets labelled just "Pegasus" and "Unicorn". This "Year" we have Powder, Sparkler, Gusty, and Skyflier as the unicorns, and Surprise and Heart Throb as the Pegasi. Like with the earth ponies, most of these characters featured in the MLP TV Show.

A second set of Rainbow Ponies was released. A whole new set of six Rainbow Ponies came out, although four of the previous Rainbow Ponies - Moonstone, Starshine, Parasol, and Windy - were given second releases during this timeframe as well.

Year 3 Play Sets

The Year 3 Play Sets had a pretty obvious theme! For general release play sets, we have the Lullabye Nursery and the Baby Buggy. The UK, and potentially other parts of Europe, got the Baby Pony Stroller instead of the Baby Buggy, which featured Baby Bow Tie instead of Baby Cuddles. The Lullabye Nursery was sold with Baby Tiddly Winks.

Baby Ponies

While the first Baby Pony was technically Ember in Year 2, Year 3 saw the first Baby Ponies to be released in-store. Six new Baby Ponies were released, all baby versions of ponies from Years 1 and 2. Once again, there were six ponies - two earth ponies, two unicorns, and two pegasi. This release had some major international discrepancy, with many countries not receiving releases of all the ponies in the set, especially the unicorns and pegasi.

This website is purely for educational/archival purposes. I do not own the rights to My Little Pony, and most photos on this site are not my own. I provide image sources if the source is still available online, but there are far too many photos for me to ask each person for permission - The whole point of the site is collecting as many photos as possible. I try to ask permission on social media or forums that I'm active on, especially if I'm using a lot of photos from one person. If you own one of the photos on this site and do not want it here, message me and I will remove it. This isn't meant to take credit from or upset anyone; It is just for fun and to help record the existence of these toys. If you are made uncomfortable by me using your photos, I will remove them for you.
