CHARACTER(S): Minty

YEAR OF PRODUCTION: 1983, 1984, 1985 (hoof says 1982)

PLACE OF PRODUCTION: Hong Kong

MANUFACTURING COMPANY: Hasbro

TYPICAL PRICE ONLINE: $15 - $25

  • Believed to be the least common of the Original 6 brushables, but these brushables are still all easy to find, so she's not considered a rare pony by any means.

OTHER COMMENTS/INFO:

  • Released in Year 1 (1982-early 1983) - One of the original 6 brushables ever released under the MLP name. She came with a purple comb and purple ribbon

    • Early Year 1 releases are flat-footed, while later ones are concave. All future releases are concave.

  • In Year 2 and Year 3 (& possibly later as well), she was sold as a mail order pony.

  • All three versions came with a blue ribbon and blue comb

  • Had a re-release by Basic Fun

Other Info

  • It's sometimes said that she's the hardest to find of the original 6 ponies, but this isn't concretely proven. If she is, it could be because they didn't always produce the same amount of each pony in a set - it is possible they made less of her in comparison to others.

  • Minty has known Nirvanas from Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Mexico, Greece, Italy, Spain, Macau/Germany, and India

  • She has a Baby Pony version - but she was only ever released in Greece!

Media/Etc:

  • She does not appear in any G1 animations, nor in the comics. She has brief appearances in some of the picture books.

  • Minty was brought back for G3 and G4. She is one of the most popular G3 characters

  • She is a main character in much of the G3 animations, but only a background character in G4's FiM, despite having quite a bit of G4 merchandise

  • She is heavily featured in G1 Retro Merch

Personality: G1 Minty does not really have an established personality. Compared to the other Collector's Ponies, she wasn't featured in a lot of merch or media (Perhaps proof of the age-old MLP fan claim that Hasbro finds green ponies to be the least marketable.)

In G3 she is a goofy and quirky, silly pony. She's ditzy and a bit unfocused, but a very excitable and happy-go-lucky pony. She loves the color green, and she likes wearing comfy socks.

Her US Backcard writes: My Little Pony is a pretty pony with long, shiny hair. She likes you to comb her hair so it stays silky and soft. You can braid her tail and tie it in a ribbon too!

Her UK Fact File entry says: Over the hawthorn hedge Minty had spotted a large patch of her favourite mint. She knelt down to smell the delicious aroma, nibbled a leaf and then lay right down in it - rolling over and over, until her while body smelled of mint too.

Her Mail Order Insert says: Minty closes her eyes and makes a special wish with a four-leaf clover from the meadow.

This website is purely for educational/archival purposes. I do not own the rights to My Little Pony, and most photos on this site are not my own. I provide image sources if the source is still available online, but there are far too many photos for me to ask each person for permission (and some are from users who are inactive or not possible to contact -- i.e., from sites like Worthpoint) - The whole point of the site is collecting as many photos as possible. I try to ask permission on social media or forums that I'm active on, especially if I'm using a lot of photos from one person. If you own one of the photos on this site and do not want it here, message me and I will remove it. This isn't meant to take credit from or upset anyone; It is just for fun and to help record the existence of these toys. If you are made uncomfortable by me using your photos, I will remove them for you.
