Original G1 Spike has three releases, all different variants of the same mold
He was first released with the Dream Castle Play Set in 1983 along with Majesty. The Spike toy that came with the European release of the Dream Castle has more pink-toned colors
He was then available for mail order in 1986 & 1987 - Mail order spike has bigger, more cartoony eyes than his other two variants
He was then featured in the Second Edition Dream Castle Play Set in 1989 ("Lavender Dream Castle" - this version of him has brighter, more saturated colors than the other two, but the same eyes as the original Dream Castle Spike
Spike appears in the first ever G1 Special, and in the subsequent G1 Movie and TV show
There is a G1 Retro Spike toy by Basic Fun, who has a different mold from the original Spike toys but is still made in the G1 style
