CHARACTER(S): Skyflier
YEAR OF PRODUCTION: 1985 (Hoof says 1984)
PLACE OF PRODUCTION: Hong Kong
MANUFACTURING COMPANY: Hasbro
TYPICAL PRICE ONLINE: $10 - $20 USD
She is considered common for a G1 pony; Not difficult to find
Tends to be on the lower end of prices for G1 common ponies, at least in US markets; Does not seem to high demand compared to some others
OTHER COMMENTS/INFO:
Released in the US in Year Three (1983-1984) as part of the Unicorn Series
She was part of the second wave of Unicorns, which along with Skyflier also consisted of Powder, Sparkler, Gusty, and re-releases of Glory & Moondancer
(Moondancer also was included in this second release)
She came with a purple comb and light blue ribbon
She has a glittery cutie mark (just the kites are glittery, not the strings)
She is very similar to G3s Skywishes, possibly an inspiration or generational equivalent
Outside of the USA:
It was a disappointment to many that the original Unicorn series did not get a UK release, but did the second one? No, they still didn't. But just like was the case for the first wave, some parts of Europe got this set with UK-style backcards, causing confusion about whether or not they were released there.
She did still appear in UK merchandise, just never got a brushable release
She is confirmed to have been sold in Australia and Scandinavia and in Norway
MLP Arena, MLP Arena, MLP Scrapbook <- sources for them being sold in above countries
The ponies from the Unicorn and Pegasus series are collectively nicknamed "Fable Ponies" in Scandinavia, based on how they were marketed, but this was not their official name.
She has few Nirvanas - her only known Nirvanas are those from Argentina & Italy

Media:
Skyflier was in the UK comics - She was frequently featured, and her brushable was popular among UK collectors upon the introduction of overseas collecting
Personality: Skyflier has one hobby and one interest: Flying kites. A bit mundane for a magical unicorn, but she makes up for it with enthusiasm and a bit of obsession.
Her US backcard writes: Skyflier had been working on her beautiful kite for weeks. "Red, white and blue... yellow, green and purple, too," she sang to herself as she added the finishing touches. Tossing it in the air, she ran along the tops of the clouds trying to fly it. Heart Throb, the pegasus, carried it high in the sky. Crash! Down it came. Skyflier was so disappointed. Bow Tie, watching from the meadow, offered a suggestion. "Ribbons! Give it a tail with ribbons!" Bow Tie tied on some of her prettiest silky ribbons and the kite quickly rose into the sky. "Thank you, Bow Tie!" Skyflier called.
