OTHER COMMENTS/INFO:

  • The baby version of Lickety Split!

  • Her French name is Bébé Sorbet

Beddy-Bye Eyes (BBE)

Release Info:

  • In the US, there was a release of Baby Lickety Split - as a BBE (Beddy Bye Eye Pony) - baby ponies who's eyes have a mechanical feature making them close, so it looks like they are going to sleep when you lie them down

    • BBE Ponies were introduced in Year 3, when second editions of the Baby Buggy and Lullabye Nursery included BBE Ponies.

    • The first full set of BBE ponies was in Year 4 (1985-1986), and included Baby Lickety Split along with Baby Gusty, Baby Heart Throb, Baby Lofty, Baby Ribbon, and Baby Shady

  • BBE Lickety Split was released in 1985, although it appears she was still being produced/sold in 1986 in the US.

    • She also got another standard US-based release as a First Tooth Pony later on

Accessories:

  • The BBE ponies were packaged in the same style as the first wave Baby Ponies (except with different box art, accessories, and the added title "with Beddy-Bye Eyes), so of course they had lots of accessories included!

  • Her accessories were a diaper & diaper box, a highchair with a tray, a spoon, a food dish, a bottle, a necklace for her to wear, a white ribbon, and a turquoise comb.

  • See accessory list with pictures for each item on MLW

Other Info:

  • She is a pink color, although she appeared more purple toned in the TV Show & movie

Non Beddy-Bye Eyes (NBBE)

Release Info:

  • Instead of getting BBE ponies, the UK and other areas of Europe got a second wave of the Baby Ponies: Play and Care Sets, which were an equivalent to the initial wave of Baby Pony box sets released in the USA

    • There were 6 Baby Ponies released in Year 3 in Baby Pony box sets in the US. Two of these (Baby Cotton Candy and Baby Blossom) were released in the UK, France, and possibly other countries, in similar looking box sets under the name "Baby Pony: Play and Care". They also got Baby Applejack, who never got a US release.

    • For the second wave of Baby Pony: Play and Care Sets, Baby Lickety Split was released along with Baby Heart Throb, Baby Gusty, and Baby Ribbons - all of which were released at the same time as BBE ponies in the USA.

    • NBBE versions of Baby Ribbons and Baby Gusty were also released in Brazil in Play and Care style box sets, but it does not appear that Baby Lickety Split got one of these releases.

    • Multiple areas of Europe did not get full "Play and Care" sets (which were packaged the same as the extravagant box sets of the first wave of Baby Ponies in the USA) until the second wave of Play and Care, such as Germany, which previous had ponies with just one to three accessories on cards, not in boxes.

Accessories:

  • The accessories for the Play and Care ponies were the same as for their BBE counterparts, except the word "Diaper" was replaced with a relevant term.

    • Ex: Diapers were "Snugfit" in the UK; "Whindelbox" in Germany

    • The accessories were also slightly different colors depending on country

Other info:

  • NBBE Baby Lickety Split has freckles, although her BBE version does not, and her grown up equivalent doesn't either

Media:

  • Baby Lickety Split is featured in the G1 MLP TV Show and movie

Personality: Baby Lickety Split is confident, headstrong, and a bit stubborn. In her debut in My Little Pony: The Movie, she goes against the rehearsed steps in a dance performance, because she thinks her idea is better than the one rehearsed. After this causes some problems in the show and she is scolded for it, she runs away, deciding to go it alone. Eventually she comes back home though! But she certainty has an adventurous streak and is somepony who knows what she wants!

Her US Backcard writes: "I think I'll make some ice cream pies," Mama said to Baby-Lickety Split. "May I help!" exclaimed Baby Lickety Split. "Put the pies in the shade to cool until I've made enough for everyone," Mama Lickety-Split urged. While Baby Lickety-Split watched over the pies, something way up near the rainbow caught her eye. It was Skyflier's kite! She gazed dreamily as the kite floated through the clouds. Suddenly, she felt mounds of melted vanilla, strawberry and chocolate chip ice cream flowing past her feet, right into the Waterfall! "The ice cream pies melted when I turned away," she called to her mother with tears in her eyes. "Seems like everyone is enjoying the just the same," Mama laughed as the ponies licked the ice cream from the Waterfall! Baby Lickety-Split was so happy the dessert wasn't totally ruined that she leaped into the air and landed right on an island of chocolate chips. It was the best ice cream float she had ever tasted.

Her US Backcard for her FT Edition is a better-worded version of this story....  “May I help you make ice cream pies?” Baby Lickety-Split asked her Mama. “Put the pies in the shade to cool,” Mama Lickety-Split urged. While Baby Lickety-Split sat near the pies, she gazed dreamily at a kite floating in the sky. Suddenly, she saw melted vanilla, strawberry and chocolate chip ice cream flowing past her feet and into the Waterfall! “The ice cream pies melted when I turned away,” she called to her mother with tears in her eyes. “Everyone is enjoying them just the same,” Mama laughed as the ponies licked the ice cream from the Waterfall! Baby Lickety-Split was happy that the pies weren’t ruined, and joined the delighted ponies for delicious ice cream floats!

Her UK Backcard writes: Baby Lickety Split is a silly pony who loves playing leap frog. One day she jumped over Baby Gusty and landed in the middle of a bowl of her favourite ice-cream. A very tasty surprise!

The UK Backcard for FT Lickety Split writes: Baby Lickety-Split’s Mother was busy making ice cream meringues for the baby ponies. “May I help you?” Baby Lickety-Split asked her Mother. “Yes, go and put the meringues in the shade to cool,” Mother Lickety-Split urged. But instead of doing it straight away Baby Lickety-Split sat by the waterfall, gazing dreamily at a kite floating in the sky. Suddenly, she saw melted vanilla, strawberry and chocolate ice cream flowing past her feet and into the waterfall! “The ice cream meringues melted when I turned away,” she called to her Mother with tears in her eyes. “Everyone is enjoying them just the same,” her Mother laughed as the ponies licked the ice cream from the waterfall! Relieved, Baby Lickety-Split went to join the delighted ponies for delicious ice cream floats!

First Tooth Baby Lickety Split

  • Baby Lickety Split was released as a First Tooth pony in Year 5 (1986-1987)

    • First Tooth Baby Ponies are Baby Ponies using different, smaller molds than the usual Baby Pony molds. They all have one tooth poking out from their mouth, hence the name.

  • She was part of the first and only full in-store set of First Tooth Ponies

    • Other FT ponies were sold, but not as a set, with the exception of the TAF Baby Ponies, but those were Mail Order only.

  • Her accessories were a toothbrush, toothpaste, a teething ring, a glow-worm toy, a diaper & again a white ribbon and turquoise comb

  • Accessory list with photos on MLW

  • In Belgium, one of the MLP Fan Club rewards in 1988 was a First Tooth Baby Lickety Split packaged on a board rather than in a box, with one accessory - a toothbrush

    • I doubt she was re-manufactured for this - probably just extra stock
