CHARACTER(S): Lemon Treats

YEAR OF PRODUCTION: 1988

PLACE OF PRODUCTION: Hong Kong

MANUFACTURING COMPANY:  Hasbro

TYPICAL PRICE ONLINE: $50 - $90

  • More expensive than some of the other Candy Cane Ponies? Also I see less listings for her online... I think it might just be that she's popular/in higher demand?

  • Might be a similar situation to Mimic where she's perceived as rarer because she has a more unique design (i.e. pony collector cultural obsession with the color green)

OTHER COMMENTS/INFO:

Release Info

  • Lemon Treats is a Candy Cane Pony from Year 7 (1988-1989)

    • Candy Cane Ponies were candy-scented with tightly curled stripey hair, made to resemble candy canes. They all were food themed

    • (In this way, they're very similar to Perfume Puff Ponies - gimmick ponies with a combined gimmick based on hair and scent)

Other Info

  • Lemon Treats is themed on lemon meringue pie, although her cutie mark looks a bit more like a cake and is often referred to as one

  • She came with a pink comb, a purple lollypop shaped barrette, and a yellow ribbon

  • The impressively curled hair of the Candy Cane Ponies was part of their gimmick - So, even more than the average pony with curled hair, the quality of the pony's curls (how well preserved they are) contributes to their perceived value

  • Lemon Treats has no known Nirvanas

Her US Backcard writes: With all the decorations in place, Lemon Treats hurriedly removed Caramel Crunch's birthday cake from the oven. The smell of lemons filled the air, as she placed the cake on the windowsill to cool. When the cake was ready, Lemon Treats frosted it with luscious lemon icing. "Now for the finishing touch!" Lemon Treats said, tossing heart-shaped candies into the air! Some candies landed on the cake, while others burst into beautiful balloons to welcome the party guests as they arrived!
